I Can Only Imagine

Missing image
I Can Only Imagine

I can only imagine, how it feels to fly,
inexplicable feeling in cirrus filled sky.
unheeded venture amid clouds wispy and thin,
heights unforgiving, where man's never been.

I can only imagine, love lasting forever,
through loves ambivalence I have found it never.
Discarded like rose petals that autumn forsakes,
my love sweetly given would return as heartbreak.

I can only imagine, to sail on the seas,
hoisting the main sail, feel the warm coastal breeze.
Silently skipping across dark fathoms so blue,
wishing I was enjoying this sunset with you.

I can only imagine, making love to you,
searching peeks and valleys, the whole night through.
Entwined together until the break of day,
thoughts so vivid of you, take my breath away.

I can only imagine brave soldiers at war,
far away from home, and the ones they adore.
I can only imagine the death they must see,
the pain and suffering, lives full of tragedy.

I can only imagine, how it feels to die.
and to finally face Jesus Christ eye to eye.
Feel the power and glory of Heaven above.
to find a lasting peace among those that we love.

I can always imagine, I can always dream,
sometimes things are not, as bad as they seem.
To never lose hope or my imagination,
for it fills my senses with wondrous sensation.

Stunning poem, and the ending is wonderful. Yes, we can imagine and dream, within our capabilities. I like how you bounced around in areas of familuraty but unexplored to you, and how you tied it back to what's really important. Well done Sandy.

There is only one thing that comes to my mind after reading this write: Absolutely Brilliant from begining to end. It is also hard to comment on because the masterful write left me speachless. The topic itself "Imagination" reaches the heart of every poet or writer. "I can only Imagine" writing the way that you have throughout all of your work. You are a true inspiration to all writers and poets. Both the pictures and background are wonderful additions. However, the effects cannot compare to your words. Thank you for sharing this lovely write. lol

This is a wonderful poem. I liked it a lot. When I first saw the title, I thought of the song..I can only imagine. I especially loved the last stanza. These three lines were amazing.."I can always imagine, I can always dream,
sometimes things are not, as bad as they seem.
To never lose hope or my imagination,"
    keep up the fantastic work.

Another winner Sandy. I really enjoy reading anything you write. Your choice of expression and your rhyme puts a lot of us to shame. Guess we're mostly amatuers but most of us write with love in our hearts and try to write something that someone elss may find enjoyable to read. Again, great job. Where do you ever get the pictures you submit with your poetry? Now that I am allowed to do likewise and am somewhat computer literate, there are so many things that I still have to learn, like transferring those pictures to the poetry. Have a great day and keep on fascinating me with your wonderful poetry. I try to also read quite a few of what the younger poets write and give them encouragement when I see something good that they write.

Nice!! I don't even really know what i could say about this piece, it's great... it's true, these are things most people can only imagine... some might think they would understand, but they would never really know that they did. good work.
