I'm not sure you can handle
this so I'll be quick, easy
and out of your way
before you know it.
How come I keep eating?
I know it's not normal.
Last week I couldn't
even spell all the
items I've lost
to gluttony.
Who said that was a sin
anyway?
How long can you stand this?
(I like answering my own questions)
Does that scare you?
Not even the slightest bit.
Write this down for me
a million times;
"I will not ever kill myself again."
I will not ever kill myself again.
I only lie for the benefit
of others.
I'm just that selfless.
Load me in praise please.
I deserve it.
I mean, what's up with
people and actually caring about
society?
I think we should just sit on
our couches and
watch Iraq disintegrate in
front of our eyes.
It's more entertaining than
you might think.
Why are you looking at me that way?
You were -thinking- it.
You guys have no sense of humor.
I didn't kill the neighbor,
those gloves are too small.
Honestly,
try fitting
those things are my fingers.
Another one bites the dust~
Was that the sound
of a gunshot coming
from next door?
It was?
Oh well.
Maybe they put
me in their will.
It's possible.
Did she really kill
her children?
I think she's insane,
let her off the hook.
After all,
God did tell her to do it.
We should respect his wishes.
(and her ridiculously
convincing tears)
I think I speak on behalf
of the United States when I
say:
"Who cares?"
It's really not all
that interesting anyways.
Oreo anyone?

Author notes
Yes, this is a sarcastic veiw on how murders seem to be so common in America today that they are often forgotten about in days or even hours and how we hold food in a higher state than crime and justice. This is not how I really feel.

wow. that was indeed humorous and it has a good point about murder and gluttony. i really liked the last part. "oreo anyone?' really set the mood for the poem and finished nicely showing and proving ur point... that murder is like watching the news or eating something. this was a funy point of view and i really enjoyed reading it. great

Weird ramblings
Best of luck in the contest. -
This was good.
I like the last line. it really really put the point across. I liked the examples you used!
Thank you! That was a great and thoroughally enjoyable poem to read. -
a greatly done satyrical write on the state of todays society. So much is happening all over the world....it seems that out of self protection we are becoming immune at even the most horrendous deeds
The media flash images at us------and at times it seems as if it is merely a soap opera we are watching---tune in tomorrow to see who killed J.R.
Maybe it is self preservation that sets in , or we would all run the risk of going postal. As sad as this write is , it is an honest look at nonchalance. Best wishes in this contest. I believe this is a strong contender

Wow...that's really one of the most different approaches I've ever seen taken on anything. I absolutley loved it! You did a wonderful job on this, and best of luck in the judging.

Oh my you are a card...I mean that in a wonderful way. This is just how you feel after you become immune to what goes on in the world around you. Some things that happen completely shatter one's life and is nothing but a blip on the radar of another. I find that even with myself the stuff going on just does not seem real. I go about my daily life and try not to complain because so many have to worry about bombs, dying family members, etc. We just get caught up in everyday life sometimes...thought provoking piece...well done as always...Trina

well I loved th is..I'm not from the US but i agree with you...People say so and so died last week they go the the funeral or pay their respects and okay supper anyone? it's kinda crazy...everyone is looking for an explanation...like why would a mother kill her kids? ummm...maybe she didn't like being a mother...does that automatically make her insane? anyone can say that god told them too...
"well i only skipped school cause god told me to..he did' does that mean i get out of detention?..haha i'm a lil off of what i was trying to say..anywho...
