Dad Lives Life

Dad
Lives life
Loves life
Had cancer
Knew pain
Built a wall to keep it out
Seized the day
Danced at his daughter's wedding
Sailed his boat and capsized
Refused to be submerged
Laughed until his sides ached
Held his baby granddaughter
Lived life
Loves life
Travelled the world
Opened his heart
Made the wall stronger
Tended his garden
Grew a lot
Gave love
Is loved
Knows joy
Has cancer
Lives life
Loves life
Is Dad

Author notes

My Dad has truly lived every day of the years since he first had surgery for cancer. I wrote this for him in August 2006. I think one of the main things is to do all you can to help a person hang on to their identity. Dad's still got cancer but it hasn't got him. He is still enjoying life. He even takes holidays between chemo sessions. I wish the same positivity for your Nan. Don't want to be considered for points thanks, just wishing you and your Nan all the best x

Thank you for your entry here!
Sorry to hear about your father.
I know how challenging and difficult this
disease must be for the both of you.
It's great to read that he is still active
    and that he is alright.
I wish you both all the best and hope
that everything works out for him!
    God bless!
