~~Barefoot Time~~

Take off your shoes
Walk in the morning dew
It's barefoot time
Learn to enjoy
The tickling of earth's skin
Beneath our tired feet
With joy we weep
As it's
Barefoot time again
Dare to run out in the rain
Enjoy a morning's shower
Barefoot
As we look around
See nature in bloom
Respect the earth
While spring gives rebirth
It's barefoot time again~

This is delightful. As a child growing up I always looked forward to the time we could go barefoot for the first time. My mother's rule was that we had to see 3 bumblebees before we could go barefoot, so about the end of March or early April my brother and I would go out looking for bumblebees (LOL)! From about age 3 to 13 I seldom wore shoes in the summertime except on Sunday - so by the end of the season I had such calouses on my feet that I could run across sharp stones or through thistles without hesitation.

Such an upbeat positive write...at one with mother nature eh , seems to convey a strong message about letting yourself go and grabbing the proverbial bull by the balls...enjoying life !!!

    Enjoyed this , thanks

I hate walking barefoot outside, you're feet get so dirty looking. and I hate when you see someone walking down the street without and shoes on and their feet are black. that really bugs me, but each to their own.

Ahh...this is truly wonderful..."the tickling of earths skin"...I really love that phrase...it so describes the feeling of being barefoot in the cool, damp grass...I miss that here in Az, only wet grass we get most of the year is from the sprinklers...thanks for taking me back to childhood again...hugs...Ro

Yay! This one reminds me of..well...running around barefoot as a little kid! which reminds me of being incurably hyper! so I love this poem! fresh and young...first things popping into my head...ok..I sound like a crazy critic...*runs off barefoot*...

This is so cute Susan! You have a way with words Mm, barefoot time... Too long have our feet been confined to shoes and socks. But now, now! is the time they can rebel, shed those shoes and socks, and run around as nature intended. Naked. Hehe

    BAREFOOT (Ku)

    Bare toes caress grass
    Grass reciprocates in turn
    Together, pure bliss

    Very Nicely Done!

I never go barefoot except at the beach (and that isn't often). Just never felt comfortable without shoes, don't know why. My sister was always barefooted and her feet were always dirty..maybe that's what kept me from doing it.

I enjoyed your poem, though, and the thought of going barefoot is appealing. Thanks for this one, Sis! 'Twas a pleasure to read!

    Love Ya!

I really like this Susan. When, after a dry period here in Queensland, we eventaully have rain - this is what I do, stand out in the rain - barefeet and just soaking up the marvellous feeling of the rain and wet earth. You captured that feeling for me beautifully.
    Thank You

I don't exactly go barefoot anymore, but as long as I am home I only wear socks--thin ones--that is almost like going barefoot. That when I was a boy was the way that I went everywhere in the summer--even to school and church. I loved it, and I love the poem too. You did an excellent job to say the least.
