Requiem for a Heart

These images of you in my mind, my heart,
Broken and darting through eyes of dark.
They mold and form against a shadows breif light,
And are gone, riding on your lips through the night.

I can't hold you here, you're a liquid blaze,
Dark at the base and red in your haze.
My pale fingers seep through you, scrambling,
For anything to close around, somehow to be with you.

Close.

Palms filled with crystalline shards of glass,
You run them down the sides of my face before I can ask,
You to spiderweb my eyes so the temptation to touch your lips,
Desintigrates.

Because the velvet of your lips is all I need,
To hang my neck on a fragile string,
And cage myself like the songbird your faint whispers set free.
Your eyes are stripping the blood from my veins,
While your tongue is handing me the key.

Requiem for my heart.

Author notes

Hah, I wonder how many poems I have in these categories all together? Probably more than I would like to admit.

Spat out, not terribly amazing, but speaks from the heart more than anything else.

I am still fiddling with the very last bits.

    Amazing

That was beautiful, as your poetry always is. I love the way you word everything, as usual. I am just a huge fan, I guess. I think my favourite line is "you're a liquid blaze", just because it gives such a powerful mental image. I'm glad to read something new by you, I always love it.
