Outside My Window

.

Outside my window-
Summer’s green days trod on
Through hapless humidity...

As the world smiles and frowns
Mourning or celebrating
Under its on volition

On this side of the glass
There is a battle
Between dark pain and sanity

My body lays splayed out
In borrowed splendor-
A guided cage

More convenient
Than a familiar home
(With my own dusty trinkets)

Days pass slowly
Following the clock time
Of pills and sleep
Interrupted by lightning and fireworks
Romping through the extremities

It would seem that all is lost
And hope, blown out like
A candle in a gale of circumstance
Has vanished in the night

Yet comfort comes by pixilated words-
Sentiments form poetic minds
Prayers upon a digital altar!

I print these for mobility and posterity,
Spreading them out before me in my bed
Like a feast before the starving man

There are friends out there
Beyond the opiates
And crumpled bed-sheets

There are hands I grasp
In desperation and friendship
Kindred souls, singing creation’s
Lofty ideals and spreading
Love and beauty like
Warm butter on my crusty toast

I feast

Recuperation is not as restful as one would hope. This is great expression of the slow passage of time, when one has nothing to do but watch and wait for a friend to spend some time. Best wishes.

Yes, Dear Presence, your voice is a pleasure to hear again. I'd only recently heard of your incapacitation, and join with all our friends here on AP in sending you my warmest of thoughts for your recovery.

So unexpected! Words from you upon my screen. I'm thrilled to hear your slightly opiated message of hope. Your poem makes me feel like laughing and crying at the same time. Yes, if only your dear friends could each take a portion of your pain there would soon be none left for you...then you would want to share too...and then we would have to give some back. Ha ha!
Sorry, Does it hurt when you laugh? I hope not.
Please just keep getting better and better.
God bless you dear one, Love Tara

From the depths of incapacitation, your heart still sings. Why does the caged bird sing? Because he knows no pity for himself, he focuses not on the cage, but upon the freedom of the soul. Sing my dear friend! Sing!

I am delighted to feast upon your words again. Your energy flows out of each line, reasuring me that you are OK.

Know, in your heart of hearts, this One is there beside you, in deepest spirit. If I could share your travail, I would gladly do so. Let me at least share healing hope. This too shall pass.

Let Light bear you up, my friend.
