Bombs Exploding, tempers Flaring,
Picket Fences, Teeth Baring.
Earn my honor, stand and fight,
Protect my country, and its rights.
My life was short, but if I die,
I did my duty, so don't you cry.
I proudly joined, and for you I served,
Gave my country the love it deserved.
Some people will never understand what I do,
It's for protection, for me AND you.
Some threats you just can't ignore,
Because some things, like freedom and pride,
They're worth fighting for.

Great poem all round but especially love the lines...
"I proudly joined, and for you I served,
Gave my country the love it deserved"
and
"Because some things, like freedom and pride,
They're worth fighting for"
Truly inspirational. I've never served but that's the passion I feel for my country too. Awesome write!!

Hey buddy, thanks for entering the contest, I planned for a movement of words here on AP against the unjust wars and for peace. You all expressed well, dearly and I read whole-heartedly. I wish I could give something to all so there goes a round of applause. The Lava Oozed out at AP really made every one move and this contest will be remebered by me for years to come. Thanks for your entry

A different angle altogether and nice feeling. You placed a patriotic aspect of war on AP today making it a necessary evil. Good work and Good luck.
