Split Reflection

She cries,
And her tears fall from my eyes.
I had to beat her down,
So I could survive.

Her silenced voice,
Lies entrapped in my throat.
I know her pain,
The burden is ours.

From mirrors she watchers,
Each reflection will show
A bruised breathless girl
Who can’t cry anymore…

Because I cut out her heart,
We shared, her and I…
And a broken heart did us no good.
