Oh, draw me with Your voice, Beloved- sing!-
Lest I be tempted by Your enemy;
He offers other lovers unto me,
And numerous the snares they always bring.
Oh, draw me to the barren wilderness,
Where You supply me vineyards lush and green,
The like to which in Canaan only seen,
And streams inside this door of hope refresh;
Where You will say, "What are these loves to thee?"
But names of others I will not recall-
Out of my wanting lips You take them all
When whispering these words of love to me:
"My love will never leave thee, nor depart-
For you, my spouse, have ravished all my heart."

Rich
I think this piece is so rich because you've thoughtfully layered passages from Song of Solomon, Hosea, John, and Hebrews. You have comressed these passages in such way that they spring into the epiphany in your couplet. Your allusion to Canaan and your imagery only add to the richness. You have a gift. mattharris

I was kind-of trying to remind myself at the time... It turned out even better than I expected!

This is a striking and moving sonnet. I am in need of that refreshment that only solitude with God can give and this is just like a whisper to nudge me into His presence. You are one of my favorite sonneteers--and your message always touches me in a deep way.
