Pass it on

Do you have to be an acquaintance
Do you have to be a friend
to do a good deed for someone
that maybe a fence will mend?

Do you have to be a relative
Do you have to be well known
to make someone feel better
so they can make it on their own?

We are all brothers in this world
We are all sisters surely
so why not treat each other like
we'd want, and not be so unruly?

With just one life to show our love
we need to start right now
to let all those less fortunate
know we mean to keep this vow.

Let's help our fellow human beings
we are after all, so much the same;
no different colour of the skin
should be made to take all the blame.

Whatever happened to friendliness
loving someone as thyself?
Now it's get in that final blow
revenge is where it's at.

Make this world a better place
by being there for those
who cannot make it on their own
what do you have to lose?

Spread good cheer throughout this land
be patient, helpful, true,
so that others will, in return
do the same for you.

I agree with your sentiments completely. People are simply not as generous as they used to be which is a real shame. I thought this poem was well-written and I liked the way you got your point across. The rhyme and flow were strong throughout. Congratulations on the trophys.

Yes we need to pass on love and compassion and help others. Even a hug to someone may be the thing that the doctor ordered for this person. Our world could be such a better place if only we all would reach out to others. Thanks for sharing this amazing write, hugs Theresa

Your poem contains a message we need to remind ourselves of daily, We need to be a blessing to others, share with others, love others as we would want others to do to us. We are all one family, we ought to take care of those less fortunate. Thank you for sharing this thoughtful reminder, a well written poem with a needed message.

You have been Spotlighted by your Bandit family today because WE CARE!

This is an excellent write, Erika, but more importantly it delivers God's message of "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Alas, we live in a society with the attitude of "Do unto others before they do unto you." Indeed, we've only this one chance to show the Lord our love for Him and for our fellow mankind. I am happy this wonderful poem has been kindly noticed twice.

I still think that I hold the values that my mother and grandmothers taught me. Like opening the door for a lady even though she might slap me or kick my shins because she is capable of doing it herself. Lighting her cigarette and after she says she doesn't smoke, she just holds it for decorative purposes and quit seven years ago. Getting her chocalate when she is going through the full moon phases of womanhood. Chivalry lives on, just accept it! ( )

    Gregg

PS: Loved the philosophies taught in the poem. I am so lucky to live in the country and make it a habit to know my neighbours close by in case any of us needs help. I also think that this year we will see the world changing in positive ways because the energy surrounding us is shifting towards positiveness.

Words of wisdom makes me wonder at times just a smile or a friendly hello dont cost but you reap the rewards....This is the very same reason neighbours are found dead in their homes weeks, months or even years after they passed away ... nobody was bothered to say hello or check everything was alright. These little things in life can brighten someone's day .... it that too much to ask We all need to take your message on board. Brilliant write.

    Absolutely beautiful and true ~

It is sad when people feel they need to know a person to lend a hand; today I stood up to allow an elderly couple to have a seat while I stood and they seemed so surprised and thankful - yet all I did was stand for them

Beautiful piece, congrats on the silver trophy. So many people speak of wanting to make a difference in the world, and they fail to realize that by simply being smiling at people in the streets, offering a hand, welcoming someone into your home, or lending an ear, you can touch millions of people, one person at a time. (And those who you've touched personally will then go on and touch others, all because of your reaching out to them.)
    Beautiful piece!!

Amen grannyeri!!! I echo you sentiments one hundred percent. What this world needs are more random acts of kindness. When I was much younger, I was broke down on the road and gentleman stopped to help. He spent over an hour helping me. When I asked him if I could give him something for his time. He said sure, next time you see someone that needs help, give them a hand. This tought me a very valuable lesson and I hjave been following his lead for years and always giving the same answer he gave me. I hoped that his and my actions have snmowballed and will continue to. It just makes the world a better place to live. Keep on writing the masterpieces!!

Three cheers for the poetry, the sentiment and the poetess!Dear Erika,I echo your thoughts,I have a similar write with the same title in fact, good deeds take no more thought or effort than bad deeds and if we all simply treat each other how we would like to be treated all the aggression and thoughtlessness would cease, what a paradise we would have then, brothers and sisters living in harmony and unity, tis a dream many of us hope and pray for and I for one live by the creed of "Pass it On" Well done, love and light,Yvette

Words well spoken. This has more truth in it than I've seen in a very long time. This takes me back to my younger days, when people had real values and lived by them. It seems as though today real love and trust is a rare thing. They have seemed to have fallen by the wayside. Your words you write are so very powerful and so true. What a wonderful work of art you have created here. Awesome truly awesome job.
