Ascent

    Loneliness is not a condition
    determined by environment
    but, a process
in which the spirit is set aside
    in favor of an ideal
    no human can possibly meet

    Thus, finding a companion
    becomes the foolhardy task,
    inevitably destined for failure,
    of attempting to create someone
    who meets this ideal
out of someone dumb enough to think
they can create such a one
    out of you

    To overcome loneliness
    one only needs to
have the spirit as a lover first
    and force all companions henceforth
    to accommodate such a threesome

    Only love involving the spirit
    has what we long for
    making the third party
    no less important
    but far less burdened

    Profound!

This is a very special poem. It causes the reader to think, and to consider how, "Only love involving the spirit has what we long for," applies...At least in my case, I know it has always been true. Thank you for a very good read.

  • Amazing

I wonder where i've heard this before, and how I learned how to do it so well, hmmm, oh, that's right, it was you. I absolutely loved it, well worded, I only wonder why it took you much, much longer to explain it to me, either i'm a dum-dum, or you just like talking to me. I opt for the ladder. Much love, my dear Allan, we can only hope that such words of wisom change lives like they did mine.

And wise words for at times loneliness can be a choice, But what of those encapable of love. those truly evil tht fill their needs only to fill their egos. Those without a heart

They have focused on their humanity and not their divinity. They have lost contact with the spirit.
  • well done

I felt it was a deeply spiritual write, and something that is probably over my head at this point in my life... but I was still drawn into it.
I read it a few times. It was a bit superfluous compared to what I'm used to reading, but that style only helped to strenghten the message and make the reader pay attention. An unforgettable write.

    You are a philosopher.

  • Another fascinating write!

    "Loneliness is not a condition
    determined by environment
    but, a process
in which the spirit is set aside
    in favor of an ideal
    no human can possibly meet"

Perhaps... yet there are some environments that are forced upon us. And to change those would hurt others... so to set the spirit aside can often be for the greater good.

I do completely understand what you're saying here... and can even agree with it to a point... but even if you have the spirit of a lover... you sometimes cannot find a matching spirit to share it with.

So.. I guess I agree with what you're saying as far as it goes for everyone else... my own circumstances are beyong my control, and therefore unchangeable. LOL... yeah, I'm awkward I know!!!

You have a philosopher at heart and look deeply into matters of the soul... I'm positive this write has helped many people!!!

Regardless of my annoying cynicism..... I think this is indeed a work of art!!!!

Set the spirit aside for the greater good? Need to read it again! That is bass ackwards. The spirit only can work the miricles you seek. Setting it aside is giving up hope. Not on my watch, missy!

Good advice in this piece, too true. If one searches for that which is no more than a compound of ideas in theory without root in the world then dissapointment is sure to be a friend and thus another, less passionate, threesome will emerge: the reality, the desire, and the disappointment!

    Understood!

Well said. Your words ring true and should for many. We do create our own loneliness because we go about trying to change our partners instead of accepting them as they are and, all doing the best that is inside, but mostly, just loving . . . Thank you for this. Brought a nice smile to my lips this a.m. Be blessed.--Kel

this is definitely wisdom of sorts... I like the somewhat repetitive and cyclical feel to this piece... it seems to describe a catch 22 in detail that is a little sordid, because that is just the nature of said beast, but brings to it a clarity... one understands why this is such a conundrum and but still ponders it's purpose - why it is that it exists, at least to a degree...

Indeed this is powerful my dear friend.
I appreciate all you have said here and in other aspects of conversation. I know what my spirit tells me, and should follow it, yet I think i am better then the one in charge. SO therefore I follow my minds reasoning instead of the spirit therefore once again, leading me down a beaten path. Instead accept what is laid before me and work with it and do what i am required to do by his word. Then i shall find the peace within the heart that has been badly battered, which it as wel lcould of prevented if i paid attention to all the signs. And there were signs we just fail to see them for we want what we want and ignore the obvious right before us Right?
what a lesson i am learning. Usually im the one people ar elearning from, but you know, as followers of Him we stumble too and need a little assistance.
    Thanks

Amen! True unconditional loves comes from deep within the soul...it isn't of the mind or even the heart...it is love at any time for any reason...just pure love...
WE are blessed when another soul is open the same and loves the same, perhaps this is where the soul mate is found...but reguardless, when we are one with the spirit, we are at peace, not dismay.
Thanks for sharing this! Your spirit shines.
    blessings,

I believe each one of my friends are a soul mate, I am speaking when we find a romantic mate that seeks and shines with the spirit and our spirits match and shine...if we all had that, there would be no failed relationships.

When you make a spiritual connection with someone that is obviously far more than an idea. The fact is though you can get lost in the ideal and lose sight of what love really is and should be. Heartache is caused mostly when ideals are not met and you think you are in love, the other person doesn't feel as deeply as you do and can toss you aside like garbage because to them - no matter what they told you, it's not real love. You could think... "I don't have an ideal" but if you believe a person should think, act or respond in a certain way then yes you do. True love comes about when both appreciate one another and don't expect miracles, freedom is the key.

      Let's examine what you wrote.

"...YOU can get lost in the ideal and lose sight of what love really is and should be..."

Absolutely agreed!! It is YOUR responsibility to see that you are always true to the spirit's wishes.

"...Heartache is caused mostly when ideals are not met and you think you are in love, the other person doesn't feel as deeply as you do..."

This is running contrary to the quote above it. Here you are trying to give the responsibility to someone else. Truth is, this says YOUR love was not real. For if it was, you would not be bothered by a little thing like this. Just because someone is not in the same place you are doesn't make them less lovable, does it?

"...if you believe a person should think, act or respond in a certain way..."

We have come to the true heart of the matter! I DO believe that people should think, act, and respond in certain ways. But, not for MY sake... for THEIR sake. In which case I'm never offended when they don't. They can't hurt me. Only I can do that. (then blame them)

"...True love comes about when both appreciate one another and don't expect miracles, freedom is the key..."

Yes... the love of my life loves another. Doesn't phase me in the least. Good for her. I don't believe people are possessions. Unconditional love is unconditional. Freedom is when you love no matter what. Only when you love unconditionally can you feel that you are loved unconditionally.

Myself, being a spiritual [not religious] person,
I understand this to be our connection.
Without this connection we are all destined to fail.
I am never alone, but sometimes lonely, even in
    the company of another person...
Your poem has a lot of depth in it, which makes a lot of sense.
    Well done...

Intimate conversation is spontaneous. Thoughts like this one may take days to develop. The ego-mask normally talks, but every now and then he who takes action is motivated to speak, as you see here. The energy required for him to speak is phenomenal! So, it cannot happen often. Hopefully, I can learn to get out of the way so it takes less energy. Thanks for the comment.

There is only one "the spirit". We all share it. It is the source of all life energy, as well as that energy itself. If you link to your partner through the spirit, the partnership will not have limitations or impediments.
