Blue Skies And Dragonflies

Missing image
Blue skies And Dragonflies

To lie in bed with wistful thought,
consumed by fear the rain has brought.
In agile mind my thoughts do fray,
unravel on a rainy day.

For distant thunder clouds my brain.
with morning will the storm remain?
Will clear skies clear my mind as well,
or darkness be what dreams foretell?

Dashing fears with simple pleasure,
fright engulfs each raindrop's leisure.
My demons taken all in stride,
they lurk and stalk deep inside.

Sail upon the whispered motion,
dragons fly above the ocean.
Sententious thoughts to be set free,
as rain falls on the willow tree.

So eager for the sun I seek,
behind the clouds, will sunshine peek.
Where dragons are but only flies,
dashing, darting throughout blue skies.

Wonderful poem there Sandy! I like the use of both dragonflies and dragons fly. You got it all in, fear, hope, a sense of anxiousness as well as something deeper. I loved "So eager for the sun I seek, behind the clouds, will sunshine peek." Michael.

    WONDERFUL COMMENT

Dear Linny, Thank you for the nice comment. It was about emotions but also had some nature in there too. I enjoyed writing it. I kinda like the way it came out. Here is the meanings I have in my dictionary for sententious. Number 2 would fit my poem best. Take care, Love, Sandy

    Main Entry: sen·ten·tious
    Middle English, full of meaning,
1 a : given to or abounding in aphoristic expression b : given to or abounding in excessive moralizing
2 : terse, aphoristic, or moralistic in expression :

Hi Sis ~ Beautiful picture. When I saw the title, I was expecting one of your lovely poems about nature or summertime. But I see it's about something more deep...facing your demons and fears. I love the last stanza. Very nice. The 3rd was a little hard to interpret. You use a word that most people have never heard...sententious? I had to look that one up. And I still am not sure what it means. It has several meanings - brief, significant, precise, emotional, witty, etc. It's fine to use obscure words when writing a story...but it can really be distracting when reading poetry. I think you have very little need for inspiration from others. Your poems have always been excellent...just keep listening to your own muse. Dragons are only flies...and very beautiful...even in the rain. Poetically perfect...as usual. ~ Linny

What a master piece, fantastic word use, as always said many times to you, in times, years yet to come, this will be an extremely well read poem, a potential classic.

Even if you don’t make a fortune and fame through your poems, then your family will some where along the line of time. Well done indeed Sandy

    Marvellous

Loved the continuity of this imagery that was fresh, clean and incredibly beautiful and deep. This flowed wonderfully, and was so hopeful, in the midst of seemingly consuming darkness. This was impeccably well written and an utter delight to read.
