'Granny please tell me a story
Then I'll go sleepy bye'
She snuggled in more closley
And blinked her sleepy eyes
'Tell me when you were little
While I go nightie nite'
So I tucked the covers round her
And I turned back on the lite
It's hard now to remember
How it was when I was small
When days were long and sleep was sweet
And God watched over all
I told her of the river
That's still flowing through my blood
Of bluffs and levees standing guard
Over Mississippi mud
I told her of a mother
That I hardly even knew
Whose hair was soft and scented
And sang the whole day through
I told her how my Dad and I
Splashed through the summer rain
And she glances at the raindrops
Falling on her window pane
There was just no way to tell her
And still hold back the tears
How death and sorrow robbed me
Of those precious childhood years
Her arms went tight around me
Somehow I think she knew
'Don't cry Granny ,it's okay
Because they gave me you '
'How much did they love you?'
She had me in a grizzly's clutch
'They couldnt, not as much as me
Cos I love you this much!'
Then suddenly I remembered
How it was when I was small
When days were long and sleep was sweet
And God watched over all

Dear Mary,
~~~
I know how you love Cindy Jo
because you've often told me so.
One day she'll be a grandma too
and then I'm sure she'll think of you
and you'll look down from up above
remembering, with lots of love,
the time when she was two.
~~~
You are blessed in your grandchildren but thay are also blessed to have their grandma. Love them and they will love you.
I love your poem as always, please keep writing.
Applause, love and hugs, XXX Hugh.

Wonderful
Loving your grandaughter is expressed so very much in this piece. I too am lucky enough to have that kind of bond with my grandbaby. Thank you so much for sharing this love! -
Then suddenly I remembered
How it was when I was small
When days were long and sleep was sweet
And God watched over all
I just salute all these divine words here...
