Cheesecake 5

Sometimes,
depending on the moon,
the alignment of the stars,
the amount of beer I’ve had,

I miss you.
Small things- text messages,
emails, a random phone call
and Southern accents...

I wonder,
how you’re doing with her.
Was she worth it
when it all came down?

Was I worth it?

Sometimes,
depending on my mood,
the amount of vicodin consumed,
I miss you and you were worth it.

I don't think I have read this one before. I like it. It is so completely honest.

This made me laugh to myself. Probably because its something I can relate to. Things that hurt but also brought some beauty... how to feel about that?

    Excellant/compassionate

Amazing that you valued your friend, as much, if not more than your ex-girlfriend. Very well written. I believe that friendship is the highest form of love, regardless of gender.

First the poetry as stand alone, as I have no other reference before reading this. It was pretty personal, and yet not. The first person narrative came across as character not journal entry or letter. You have many timely statements involved in the poem, interesting. The enjambement from the first to second stanza really set up the pace and tone, and the last two lines of the each of the first two stanzas carried it home. The third stanza sent me realing; the narrator seems male, but could be unisex, therefore it makes me rethink the relationships involved. Good friend, homosexual lover turned hetero? Don't know quite yet but the gray matter mill is working overtime after stanza three. Stand alone line stanza four punches me in the gut, now me thinks man-man love, not sure still. Trite ending gives no real decision. I am so glad I read, now based on comments I need to read the cheesecake diaries.

This is one of the funniest poems I've read. I'm not sure you meant to come off funny or sarcastic but that's how it came off.

This was a great write and although there's no cheesecake I still got a sweet write (that was corny, I kno'). ANyway, keep it up this was a great poem to read. short, funny and to the damn point! stay UP!
