Chained wings,

Chained wings,
Bitter imprisonment,
To skies long denied,
Dreams of soaring through open blue,
Dreams of freedom...

But dreams are dreams,
And the wings are still chained.

Locked away with the wings,
Is hope,
For even hope is bleak,
And even hope is weak...

A reminder of days gone by,
The last living memory,
A beam of light,
Shining from the skies,
The skies that were flown in,
The soft sound of beating wings, playing with the wind.

But the days are days gone by,
And the wings are still chained...

Author notes

Well, this isn't very good...
i felt an urge to put something down on paper..
its more symbolic than literal, its not about angels or fairies or birds or things with wings..

i dunno how to explain it really
well, enjoy.. x

thankyou very much i can see what you mean, i think i based it on war prisoner camps... but i'm glad that somehow the military view was put across, because i think a lot of people don't realise what happened.

    anyway thanks

I enjoyed it, really. I think you painted a picture for the reader. I was actually thinking about WWII and maybe this (the one giving us the picture) is a US Army Vet remembering the days when he flew with his friends. I really had something going with this, as you can see.
