The greatest treasure

Midnight clouds reflect the amber from the city
I see the beggars on the streets and i hear their pity
I'm always looking up at the transparent night sky,
Wondering if that is a shooting star or satellite

This World has seen better days and brighter nights,
Tasting the recycled air; the after taste of wars and fights.
Lovers say, "think with your heart and dance with your soul"
My heart will just make sound; my soul is drowning, rolling around below

If this World is such a miracle with great pleasures,
It must be buried in the heavens with all the other treasures

Author notes

The pain in this mans heart comes not from a woman or a troubled past, but of this world we live in. It's beautiful if you look in the right places though. Cheers to everyone in this contest.

This is beautiful... poignant and truthful in the way that society lives its life, and the fact that noone seems to realise, nor care... The last two lines end this perfectly, on a thoughtful note...

Thanks for entering and good luck x Faerie
