Sun Bird

Missing image

Stop and listen, for I have a song to sing,
Visions of the future, is what I bring.

I sleep as sun sets to the earth's core.
But come the cresting of the sun,
I will rise once more.

Author notes

One cultural belief, the phoenix being the Sun Bird, who sleeps as each day closes and rises with the dawn. The phoenix sings a melodious tune that even Apollo, the Sun God stops to listen to. It is also believed that the phoenix leads the flight through the day, foreseeing events to come.

Thank you Preeti. I have actually always loved the story of the phoenix, but most people aren't aware of the so many cultureal differences in it's view. So I thought I would take the one that has a bit of what people are aware of and a bit of what they may not be. I have learned, most people see the phoenix as a creature of dark and destruction, although the rising from the ashes is symbolic of hope.

    Appreciate your comments.
