in the darkness

he seeks her
his hunger terrible,
his pain unbearable
the one who can end his torment
she has the key to his freedom
he searches,
relentless in his pursuit
to the ends of the earth
just when he gives up,
and his soul reaches its blackest
there she is,
eyes bright
a beacon of light
he clings to her
forcing his way into her life
and heart
trading all that is his
for a chance at
freedom
for the risk of
love

There is always hope at the end of the tunnel. Try and try till you succeed. This poem brings out both these wise old sayings well enough to understand its philosophy. Although you seemed to be in the dark, craving but not searching, longing but not lusting, you cleave to your love when you find her at last. Exquisite piece of writing.

    very good

oh this is amazing. the images it calls up in our minds are so vivid. it does seem like a sweet love found kind of poem until you notice the following lines:

    he clings to her
forcing his way into her life
    and heart

then it makes me wonder---FORCING his way into her life. wondering what the real story is behind this. because it tells his side but not hers, not whether she is happy with this.
but it is an amazing poem and it flowed well and I enjoyed reading this.

wow i loved this piece its so dark but full of love. To me the poem is symbolising someone with a dark past trying to break free and find love.
