Yellow Sky...the Path Home

to Mitakuye Oyasin...Peace

Up above there flies a messenger
Hawk circles high overhead
As Yellow Sky looks deep within
for the gifts that have been sent

The gentle whispers he hears inside,
then Deer crosses in front of him
Headed North she glances back
now he knows to collect up his Clan

Time has come to make the journey
his people are now at risk
For what he’s been told, those whispers he hears
of a wrath they all will miss

The Earth Mother churns deep down under
a time of change will come
Yellow Sky has heard of all the others
and a beacon that leads them home

“Follow the Light high in the Sky
given to all by Natahshee
It will take you to the path
lead you to the Meadowlands, where you will stay

Here there lies a glistening stream
beneath a snow capped Mountain
This is where your people will find
the place where they are destined”

Once again those words sing out
of the birth of Yellow Sky
“This one will bring the breath of home”
as told by One With Eyes.

    Excellent

Daughter, wonderful poem... I too hope that those searching for the Meadowlands will find their way home. Running Bear must be an insightful friend, and one that is calling to your spirit. I am overjoyed... filled with a lightness in my step that hasn't been there for a while. Daughter, you amaze me... Aho, Spiritsong
