the wind softly moves through my hair
as i sit and ponder life
wondering where all the time has gone.
i think back to when i was just a little kid
running around the park, without a care in the world.
just running.
not running away from anything or running to something.
just running because i could.
and i realize running just isn't the same when you're trying to beat the clock
or when you're trying to be faster than your fears.
maybe thats my problem...
i run so fast i cant see what i'm passing on the sidelines...
i never stop to smell the roses or appreciate the stars...
i've wasted all these years...
trying to beat out my competition:
my fears, my doubts, and my problems..
but is there anything wrong with a tie?

Nice Write
Tieing is knot really a good idea at all. it is better to lose occasionally rather than compete full heartedly and win lioke that, you should slow things down and start to take minor breaks here and there so you cans ee what you're passing up. I really liked the way you wrote youer poem though and you have quite a remakrlable eye and talernt for poetry. Nice work all round though. P.S. where abouts in Washington State are you from? I am curious because I live out in Parkland southeast of Tacoma

Impressive
Not teasing or making fun, but it's interesting for a 66 year old to read this and think about a 14, thinking back to "when they were younger" and "where has the time gone?"
And, you're talking to a runner here, who loves to run just to run and always has. But, this is well said. There are some things we just can't "outrun" - we don't beat them but don't let them beat us either, and that's kind of a tie isn't it. It doesn't have anything to do with being the best but rather it's about learning to live life and understand it. You're sure writing good, thought provoking things lately. Pretty impressive.

yes. tieing is losing. it shows that we are not the best. but who cares???
and that's why americans are so rushed. we don't enjoy traveling. and we get all stressed about traffic jams.. which make whatever our destination is suck because we're all stressed out when we get there. well...at least old people. lolol.
i like driving though. it's nice. especially if you have people you love in the car. then it's just like hanging out. i suppose.
yup...that was my not very deep moment today.
nice poem. you have a thing for catchy first lines.
