Anybody's Child

Anybody's Child is watching the sunset
terrified of what the darkness breathes
Anybody's Child, will be here tomorrow
but, gone today...

Anybody's Child is quietly waiting
trembling fingers on a back door key
Anybody's Child get lost in the twilight
and steal away...

Anybody's child is easy to be with
happy to love you, easy to please but she's
Everybody's Child that Everyone loves and
no one could be so alone

Anybody's child puts her face to the window
longing for the things she leaves behind
Anybody's Child is caught in a reverie
of yesterday...

Anybody's Child turns away from her memories
running from the monsters in her mind
Anybody's Child had just what she wanted
and walked away...

Anybody's child is easy to be with
happy to love you, easy to please but she's
Everybody's Child that Everyone loves and
no one could be so alone

Anybody's Child is anxiously waiting
trembling fingers make a doorbell ring
Anybody's Child has found a new place to
play the game...

Anybody's Child has forgotten the sunset
gathering in the charm of brand new things
Anybody's Child has been through a change and
stayed the same...

Anybody's child is easy to be with
happy to love you, easy to please but she's
Everybody's Child that Everyone loves and
no one could be so alone

Author notes

Some women are so beautiful and full of life and love that they are coveted by everyone. They learn to crave the attention, never realizing they can only have a real relationship with one who does not covet them. It is a sad irony.

    heavenly perfection

I found this through Myra's piece. I don't understand her translation but this song is so beautiful and touching. It is magnificent.

I love every line. I can sing it even without knowing the music. It resonates through me.

Not a word wrong, nothing out of sync.

    Perfect

    Hallo Allan --

I translated this beautiful song, but my words cannot capture the beauty -- not in the least.

    Excellent

Loved it, and once again thought provoking... Hey, you do choose your words well, and you can take this up in a lot of different ways... Truly breath taking... As usual...

I like this song a lot, but to me, it seems more like just a poem with a hook. I do really like it, I could picture a lot of what you were saying, and I could feel a lot of it too, but it doesn't seem to really flow like a song would, although it's possible. Great write, keep on writing, and good luck ^_^.
