.promise.

There's a glow falling off the leaves
thrown by the fire-
it can't help but return.

(The way I return)

There are stars in the sky and they shine
but the cool, c l e a r n e s s of their light is lost
swallowed by the fire-

(The way I am swallowed)

I lean back,
shift my weight in this chair
decorated with stripes, and
stars
of its own
I stretch-
working out the kinks

(the way you tell me to)

But darling,
it only
looks
like I'm

reaching for the stars,

my hands stretch upward,
but my heart points to you
and the fire.

promise-

    sweetness

love it all of course, but my fave is that last stanza "but my heart points to you"
