To The Birthday Boy

Well, hello birthday boy!
I got you a special toy?
I hope it's something you'll enjoy,
it's not very easy to destroy!

You can hold it in your hand,
if you pull it it'll expand.
As you stretch it like a rubber band,
it feels gooey in your hand.

Sometimes it's soft as lard,
if you leave it out it'll turn hard.
It's like elastic so it won't shard,
Sorry, but I didn't get you a card.

Go ahead and unwrap your gift,
do it slowly not so swift.
It's not too heavy for you to lift,
it's scented play dough, take a sniff.

    This is fantastic!!!!!

    Sam, You can't take the kid out of John and you just put him in playdough heaven. He will probably still have the little machine that came with it to make stars and other fun shapes.
    LOL This was a wonderful birthday wish you gave to him and I bet he is still staring at the woman who keeps popping up at the cake. Thank you for sharing and Best wishes in the contest. Joyce

    Sam, thank you very much for this. It put one huge-mungous smile on my face. I used to love that stuff as a kid. Heck after reading this, I might just have to plan a trip to the store and buy some and take a trip down memory lane. I wonder if it still tastes the same? Love ya my dear!

    San this is absolutely briliant poem... I'm sure birthday boy will cherish this lovely gift... very well crafted four stanzas of mono rhyming... I liked the way you staggered the lines to form a sort of cake stand... is it?
