Woman I am
I carry the burdens of yesterday
Not only mine, but yours to
Woman I am
Some call me mother
Others call me whore
I carry the bastard baby of tomorrow
And call it my own
Society looks at me and see the gift I am to man
But all I am is woman
Slave to your lustful desires
And only there to love
When the world has nothing more to offer
Still all I am is woman
I have not the power of man
Nor the wisdom
Or so they say
I am but woman
Gift from God
Yet slave to man
I am nothing if You man don't allow me to be
Yet You man are the bastard I carry in my womb
The one I nurture
I love you when the world turns it's back on you
I give you all when you believe you can no longer be
And all I am
All I'll ever be
Is but woman
Woman to thee
Wife
Daughter
Whore
I am

I love this poem, absolutely love it. strong words and very strong emotions all through out this poem. I do believe that this poem carries a strong message, one that should be heard. abuse is a terrible thing that happens all to often and more often than not, not enough is done about it. being a survivor of abuse myself, I feel that we should not only be heard, but also helped.
great job on writing this.
good luck in the contest.

Impressive!
Look in the mirror and know the age old truth; the knife cuts both ways. Without a woman a man is lost, belive me. Words so well stated.
Good luck in the contest.
