when rain comes to the desert
the parched lips form smiles
the dry palms open and wave
The passerby
looks you in the eye
and doesn't hide behind
his glasses
when rain comes to the desert
the pavement cools down
the bare feet dance with joy
The stranger
shows you the rainbow
over your shoulder
as he passes
when rain comes to the desert
the desert comes to life
Author notes
hey... literal i suppose... but i do live in a desert.

dear cheezecake,
thank you so much for such an inspiring poem about the blessings of the rain and the rain of blessings ...
I love the examples of parched lips which suddenly smile, of passerbies who look each other into their eyes instead of isolating themselves behind glasses, of strangers who point to rainbows over one's shoulder ...
how beautifully written is this poem, so simple yet so true and uplifting.
thank you very much for your wonderful contribution.
many blessings,
