Party At The Manse

When I win the powerball
Or split it with a friend
I’m going to own a mansion where the fun will never end

The land will stretch for acres
Farther than the eye can see
There'll be lots of gardens full of vegetables and trees

I’ll have a moat installed
Filled with lily pads and flowers
Where frogs and alligators spend their own most happy hours

Of course I’ll have some swimming pools
Inside and out, all at my whim
Where Jude and Johnny look-alikes gather day and night to swim

(Pause for a wistful sigh….)

There’s a blues fest on the lawn
And classical concert on floor three
No need for tie and tails, and admission’s always free

And nature has its own song here
Every type of bird can sing
With no fear of cage or capture, no one clips a single wing

You could fish the man-made lake
In private parks you’d bike with ease
The petting zoo is full of kittens that haven't any fleas

I might walk around most regally
In expensive shoes and gowns
Up and down the gilded staircase practicing disdainful frowns

But most likely you'd find me smiling
Barefoot, splashing in the rain
When you’re the mistress of the manor no one ever would complain

And what I bet would happen
Among my fancy manse décor
Is that my friends and me, we’d mostly be, camped out on the parquet floor

Eating gourmet pizzas
Til the wee hours before dawn
Watching doe and fawn bed down on my immense green lawn

Hosting a Monty Python marathon
In the private theatre suite
While pretty blue-eyed gentlemen massage our tired feet

Dancing to Led Zeppelin,
Pink Floyd and Stevie Ray
There’s a pig here on the spit and the wings are on their way

Looking through a diamond telescope
And counting all the stars
Arguing about astrology as we emptied my well-stocked bars

The laughter, you could hear it
For many miles away
If you needed rest from toil and stress, life would point you in my way

Like a constant pajama party
With friends wherever you looked
Come for just a day, and before you know it you’ll be hooked

Everyone would be welcome
You would live happy as a lark
Just remember, love your neighbor, and be careful where you park.

A beautiful write. Imaginative. That is definitely a place I would want to visit. Very good imagery, flow, rhyme and tone. Very good expression of feeling. Vivid descriptives. Lovely rhythms. Very good word choice. Good alliteration. Well crafted and a most enjoyable read. Your poem made me smile.
