Bullfrogs are the background baritone
Ducks steady chatter, percussion near shore
Brook is the burble that feeds the pond
Celestial stars, the musical score.
Omnipresent hand strokes the sky.
Hovering Night Plover’s haunting harmony
strokes the air, serene and sad,
symphony sorrow on moonless melody.
Chorus wraps the fringed far shore
in a tranquil shawl of sound.
Floating notes, a lullaby
A tone of tenderness in sound-surround.
A tinkling reflection in mirror-faced pond;
subtle winks of heaven’s eyes
Utopia, this hidden body of water,
until the violin of sunrise calls to rise.

Just after the rain, the pond behind my home, in Northern alberta, had it's own late night musical. throught he window of my bedroom, sweet music meandered and made me feel mournful.
