That book is the mirror of my life
Which the angel’s pretty innocuous hands hold.
My commitments, as it’s theme, these honest hands write.
Each filled page stands for the day that has rolled.
Some of the pages of the book are blank.
They stand for unseen tomorrow.
And no one knows where and how shall they rank-
As in virtue and happiness, or, sin and sorrow.
One day my life will come to an end
When the pages of the book will all thus finish.
And the book for assent, to God will ascend
When I, leaving the world forever, will vanish.
That book is the mirror of my life...
