Red Blankets

I caption the spice that rouses a mood-
like floral cushions with cat nearby
picture windows laced with snow
fleecy socks for morning floors
toddlers who waken with smiles at dawn

Piano music ascending the stairs
raised eyebrows inviting to tea
and honey butter oozing from toast
smells of fabric that whisper a prayer
from those who love and blanket my life.

Author notes

I'm a nitter, so I might find something
tighter on another day and edit. lol.

Thank you.

This was simply lovely, as eloquent as always and so full of rich images. This is poetry and clear and shows how full your life is Cookie. I agree wholeheartedly with grannyeri - "visual and soothing".

Thanks so much for entering. This was so perfect with the theme Cookie.

    neat and well thought out

Hot cross buns and that morning aroma and it's only when the oil of the good slab of butter emalgamate with the toasted treat do we realise how organised we were to wear slippers and then compare them to the smell of socks or the other way around, this is fun and bizarre, personally this free verse poem I feel is a winner, good luck cookiezeal !

Shaped like the hour glass of time, only your time paused for a while as I took in the flavors of your heart.
Ummm. . .warm red blankets. Red is the color of love.
    Very nice. Good luck

A very warm poem. Nothing like the comfort and special things in our lives that make us feel comforted and cover us with a 'blanket' of love. Nice job.
