Mary, Mary.........

Missing image
Mary, Mary, what have you done?
At Jesus feet; caught in sin;
Face to face with God's own son;
Brought by cursing angry men.

Mary, Mary can't you hear?
The cries of those condemning you?
Don't you know that death is near?
All they've said completely true?

Mary, Mary look and see;
The angry crowd has gone away.
Hear the Lord's loving plea;
It's time for you to obey

Mary, Mary lift your head
Hear the Son, his word is true!
At this time, you should be dead,
but a loving God's forgiven you!

Mary, Mary shed your tears
and use your hair to wash his feet;
Though your actions met with jeers
by sinful men in their conceit.

Mary, Mary, what's that smell?
A pleasant odor fills the room;
For many years, men shall tell
your sacrifice of sweet perfume.

Mary, Mary just sitting there
letting his words fill your heart.
Though others think you do not care;
You have chosen the better part.

Mary, Mary lift your head;
For this is God's chosen day.
The son of God, will soon be dead,
but from his feet you did not stray!

Mary, Mary time to rise;
Shake off the sadness and the gloom.
For soon the sun will fill the skies
and you must go to Jesus tomb.

Mary, Mary look and see;
Before you came at break of dawn;
From chains of death he's broken free.
Look and see that he is gone!

Mary, Mary run and tell;
The Son of God's no longer dead!
Destroyed the chains of death and hell;
He's risen again just as he said.

Mary, Mary how could you know?
You were a harlot, caught in sin;
That the son of God would love you so;
to honor you above the men.

Mary, Mary how God loves you!
Your broken life now made complete.
But this one thing is clearly true;
You learned it all at Jesus feet.

    Thanks Melissa for your wonderful words. I am glad they brought a blessing to you. It was a blessing to me to pen them. These words come from God and not from me. They flow out of me at times and I cannot explain the source other than that. I oft go back and read them and cannot believe I penned them. I also was deeply touched as this flowed out. Thanks for taking the time to read and God bless you.

    Thanks June Bug for your kind words. I love this story in the Bible. I Know of no other story that portrays the love of God more than the story of how he took a harlot, forgave her and eventually allowed her to be honored so. Just amazing. Thanks

    very nicely done. although i'm not typically a fan of spiritual poetry, this is quite captivating. your rhyme flows well and doesn't seem forced at all, which is definitely refreshing.
