Imagine a fire on a cold stormy night.
Imagine a river running in the middle of a drought.
Imagine a tree that just lives on forever.
And imagine all beasts peacefully living together.

Then imagine living in my mind
Where the pain and worries are all left behind.
The land is well and no longer cracked and sore
And there is no understanding of battles and of war.

So unlock my soul when you find the key
And then you will realise that I was always free.

freedom is wonderful, nothing tastes like that. what a fascination have I for you that you pen so beautiful thoughts and feed it.Leave everything freedom will not leave, hold everything freedom will not stay..so marvellous heart behind the poem

I love your poem ! and how wonderfully it fits the contest ... you perfectly guide the reader to the place in his/her own spirit, where the restless mind has been left outside, leaving the space open for love and wisdom ... the final couplet is just perfect, since it teaches us that enlightenment is not a far-away-event but a here-now-reality ... marvellous ...

it even inspired me a little variation of the second part of your verse - asking the reader to gaze in his/her own mind/soul/heart :

    "Then imagine your radiant mind
Where the pain and worries are all left behind.
The land is well and no longer cracked and sore
And there is no understanding of battles and of war.

So unlock your soul when you find the key
And then you will realise that you were always free."

    just playing ...
thank you again for your participation,

    maa

Woah thats so deep and yet so meaningful. I love the final stanza, "So unlock my soul when you find the key
And then you will realise that I was always free." This poem flows so well and is amazingly powerful for only 11 lines!
