There was a strawberry on the sidewalk today.
It brought up thoughts of sweet nothings
And hokums I used to ferry ashore.
"All for you my sweet lady
Sweet misery
Sweet adored."
Now I know children are forgetful,
Especially with things like groceries.
So I understand
To children.
Sugars are hard to pass up.
But to me,
Sugars are far too sweet
For the passed hard years.
I tried to step on it
[the strawberry that is]
On my way back from buying butts,
But the smoke blinded me.
And with my conscious being sick
I just couldnt do it.
Strawberries are no good
This time of year anyway.
