It had been my intent
to slip my hand in yours,
lead you away with me.
To say "Let me show you
what I have found.
Follow me, if you will."
Deep inside Mother Earth
breathes cool and inviting.
Cobalt, jet black, onyx.
Slippery smooth stones,
lead down further into
her heart.
You learn to feel the turns,
oval tunnels with icy drips.
Cavernous rooms.
They just sound different.
Light your lamp.
Lift it higher.
The high water line
is just under
cave paintings.
Faded but still there
Their message to us
Feel how life changes.
Feel how much I need you.

Faded messages scrawled by primitive hand
Written in charcoal from fires long cold
I know these messages--seen them
Telling tales of mythic proportions
To impress some lady, no doubt
And she senses how much
He needs her...
You paint with lovely images and feelings. I do like the whole cave experience. It takes me back to a tunnel or two I have crawled through in my day. Even without that coincidence in my own life, the universal need is there and so lovely how you ended this. Did your companion feel it?

Yes, he felt it. Thank you for so very much for the visit and for such a warm comment.
I love the dampness of caves and how you almost do feel the earth breath when deep down inside. And you can feel the connection of those who wondered there before and left those primitive paintings.
Makes you want to take someone's hand and share such a mystical find with them..just to watch their face.
Thank you again for the verse you shared. It was very touching and encouraging that you shared those words.

What Eddy said.
Nice work Ms. Sticky Fingers. -
Man emerges from the core
change begins now, not before
Sweep along by gleeming glass
light to dark, a distant past
Fearful of what lies ahead
stones begot his given bed
Past converges on this day
leaving him now blank to say
Seems unsure of where he lies
short to long adjusted strides
Hoping that his heart don't lose
in the balance of mind game to choose
Hugs...Eddy -
Excellent presentation of subtle underlying meanings. Very powerful exit line too. Wonderful word paintings here.
