All winter long we yearn for the days of summer
The hot sun, gentle breezes, sandy beaches
Planting gardens, mowing lawns, watering flowers
But when the extreme heat arrives we are speechless
The hot humid air, the smog everywhere
Air conditioners cranked to the max
Fans of all shapes and sizes humming
Some even resort to ice packs.
Not to mention the fantastic light show
As the lighting flickers across the sky
Rumbles of thunder rolling by
As the rain refurbishes our water supply
Amidst it all, we have fresh veggies and fruit
From the glorious gardens we tend with care
Smell the aroma of the flowers, taste the veggies
Better than any you can buy at the fair
Summer with its extreme heat and violent storms
It's a time for vacations and family get togethers
A time to reflect on the events of the last year
No one really cares much about the weather.

Well I am not really a fan of Summer... Autumn is my favorite as I love the mixture of color that we get

Of all the seasons, Autumn is my favorite, although in Alberta we dont get the lovely reds like we did in Nova Scotia. Thanks so much for you lovely comment.. and we are slowly killing Mother earth and hopefully we can help restore it for the future generations.

I love spring my self yet autumn is a beautiful time of the year every season has something special but with it getting so hot in summer I feel sorry for all our friends nature flowers trees little flyers animals and man prayer that it doesn't get worse amen

You could well be pretty accurate here Lori, we're all way to busy getting on with life to show interest in much these days, we’re becoming a selfish mankind more and more.
We had a brilliant few weeks here, a mini heat wave, then the routine British weather returned. I never see the sun being chained to this so much.
So I love seeing those wallpapers as you can guess, sun soaked beaches etc. I need the sun badly and fresh air, maybe I should change to a lap top. (joke)

A very wonderful write. I love this. It speaks with such a great imagery and is all true. More and more I like winter, to somewhat of a point. I have to have a bit of releif from the cold and snow tough with warm breezes and a thunderstorm or two.

Excellent Work
This is really good, Lori, with wonderful imagery. Neither am I particularly a fan of summer, especially as hot as it has been this year. My favorite seasons are spring and Autumn/Fall.
