The Man in the Moon

I see him peering behind the clouds.
A beautiful, glimmering light.
He is wanting to show his face yet he is unable.
The turmoil of the darkened night shadows his wondrous beams.

The alabaster glow is dim.
Why must shadows hover and deceive such an amazing entity?
There is a gleam within him.
A gleam that must shine yet the beauty of the light is being withheld.

The days pass and still there is a darkness.
The billows seem to never end.
Yet a break in the haze let’s a beam break through.
There is a reflection as it glistens back upon his face.
A hopefulness from the unbounded waves below.

What is the cause?  There is no explanation.
Only the anticipated notion of a dance.
A harmony that the two can only create together.
As they dance, one radiates the eminence of the other.
The display is like no other.  The two cannot part for they are one.

Though the clouds may seem to hinder the beams and the shimmer of the waves.
They do not stop the magnificence of the light.  It is relentless.
The barricades cannot withstand his determination of bliss.
His face will show and the beams will glow
For he is the Man In the Moon.

This is a beautiful and poignant rendering of the moon and the man who lives within it. As he gazes down on the world, we should give a thought or two at what he has to see, unable many times to hide his eyes. You have given us a look at his sorrow at the earth he looks upon, and the hope of renewal by his beauty. Thank you for sharing this brilliant write with me, and thank you for inspiring me!
