Through my window, I can see
The blossom on the hanging tree,
The vampire and the unicorn,
The livid colours of the morn,
The wind-swept grass, the greying stone,
The smiling lover all alone.
Through my window, I can hear
The thrill behind the cry of fear,
The lies behind the sweetest words,
The desperation of the birds,
The ceaseless mocking of the wind,
The hopeful hymn of all who sinned.
Through my window I must go
To places you can never know,
Down lanes held straight by man-tall hedge,
Past fields of thistle, burr, and sedge;
For ultimately I will flee
My happy home in Faërie.

Tootles, I mean Fairyland, or wherever, or whatever you like, Sis.
-
I quote: "...is a little outside my usual style..." - No kidding! I know what you are doing...LOL...You figured out that I'm starting to catch on to the sonnets, so you put another piece of pie out for me to chew. You're such a clever teacher! Please tell me you mean the direct meaning of Faerie.
The poem is lovely, Dear One. I really do like it - I just always feel compelled to give you a ration of hassle.

Hey Scribs. Well Faerie is the land of weird things, a dream-like place, unsettling, dangerous to mortals...
-
Never pictured you as a faerie. Nice wording hon. WIndows reveal so much. Especially to peeping toms - lol.

I am so glad, Cheryl - thank you.

It is always a pleasure to open your window and get a glimpse of your world. And like it has been said... Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... We can only see this bueaty because of your eyes. Love the poem very much.

What a kind thing to say, Poe.
-
Your window must be a magical window, in full view of
all the mysteries of life,, for it's a window that
frames your wonderful mind. And what a sight I see,
when you open it.

Makes me want to be there
Ah, 'tis I who get to comment first! The thought does make my gladness glow! I love this lovely poem by you! I would dearly like to post it on Poetry Planet tomorrow. The way you start each stanza is very appealing, "Through my window" is wonderful. A contest of poems that all begin with "Through my window" would be stunning. You might do it?
