September's Sad State - Bronze

September’s Sad State

Was it yesterday, or last year
Or the decade before

That September was known
For the brass and brilliant flags

Waving summer goodbye?

There is a sorrow to September.

Gray billowing curtains
Escaped the brightest panes

And two hands held

Heaven

in
                          their
                                                         fall.

Yes...it almost undid me, the sorrow, the horror, the most significant act of dying right before my eyes. I had never seen such nor been more personally impacted.

This is a great poem, shewolf! LB always has the most compelling contests. I just love them because they attract beautiful and thoughtful work like your poem. I keep reading it, looking for a favorite part of the poem to quote or comment upon. I have none. The whole poem is a favorite of mine. It is excellent! Best of luck in LB's contest. Toni
