We put up with the language and the violence
we see on television everyday,
but in the course of normal conversation
we have to be so careful what we say,
it seems that this political correctness
that our politicians tend to preach,
not only interferes with our language
but also stops us having free speech,
most people don't mean what they're saying
and honesty is very rarely seen,
how can people trust one another
if they're not allowed to say what they mean.

A powerful cry against the politically correct, and for free speech. Thanks for you entry, and good luck.

I do agree with your view on this, we are under constant scrutiny about what we say especially now since the government treats everyone as a possible terrorist. There is only one stance, you're either for us or you're a freaking terrorist. Thanks for your entry and best of luck in the contest.

How true. We all try so hard to be "politically correct" that the meaning of what we're saying gets lost
-
You tell it brother, I hate that crap, as long as it's not a harmful epithet, then it should be Ok.
I am half Haudenosaunee, but I don't mind being referred to as an Iroquois, or as an Indian, or even being called a Breed, I have yet to need Medical attention for being called these things.

I Say What I Want Anyway
I just loved this. Oh wait a minute was that PC - I enjoyed your opinion and respectted what you had to say.....lol Speak your mind always hell I do and I don't care for everyone just so happens to know where I'm coming from and feel I'm very down to earth. Just be you cause all that say we need to watch our tongues are saying and doing much worse. Thank you for entering and good luck. Hugs~ Cuddles

So very true. I liked it. Short and to the point and it truly shows how we are scared to voice what our hearts want to scream out. Thanks for entering and good luck.

This has such a strong message, and I completely agree with you. You were very passionate about your opinions and our right to free speech, and this poem was great! Excellent work, good luck!

Absolutely! A protest about P.C always goes down well in my book---where's the honesty, and really, the P.C peeps are quite condescending in their 'rightness'. Well done, great style to present a worthy cause...for Truth! Thanks for entering the contest

Hmmm....I seem to have come accross several deep and thought provoking pieces this morning!
I agree with the point you raise in this piece....political correctness is getting rather out of hand.......the bakery next door to where I work now sells 'gingerbread persons' lol!
I do enjoy reading social commentary poetry, as long as they are written like this one - in a fairly light tone, not pompous and not preachy. This was a good piece, it makes people think about an issue that affects all of us, without sounding like a lecture. Nice job! -
i think its more the fact that we are scared to say what we mean as we are afraid we will 'hurt' the other person's feelings. but either way good write and keep it up
