The wind whispers in the night,
As the wolves gather round
Baying out a lonely song
To a spirit they had found
Closely, she listens
But no words are spoken
Yet she feels him there
To ease her heart, once broken
She looks up to the sky,
Stars they've gazed upon before
There rest the golden eyes
She'd longed to see once more
"Never fear, dear one,
For I watch over all you do
You have my heart, my love
Though I cannot be with you
When you're feeling sad
And your heart needs to smile
Listen to the evening winds
As they blow across the miles."
She stared up hard that night.
To see him staring back
The eyes of his soul
Then quickly fade to black

Thank you sweetie. Yeah this is kind of sad, but it's what I saw in the picture.
Aunt Autumn -
Oh, this is sad. But I get it. That picture fits it nicely. And how did you get the same background? I like that. Nice writing Aunt Autumn. I think I am going to like it on this site.

Thank you Wanda. After reading some of those entries in the contest, this feels kind of flat, to me anyway. But it was what I saw when I first saw the picture. I apreciate your wonderful comments, thank you again.

This is a lovely penning, Storm, filled with rapturous description & impressive flow throughout...your verbiage is well~chosen & defines the borders of the piece with clarity & precision...The imagery is unique & profound, enhancing your writing with vivid pictures painting your words...A lil' sad, a lil' pensive...it reminds me of my late Sweetheart...I know he watches over me...Sighhh...Be proud of your efforts & please, carry on...Be well, Poet...

Thank you. It is truly a compliment when someone reads multiples of one's work, and enjoys them. I appreciate that.

Thanks James, I apprecaite your comments. I changed it to a deep red font, don't know if it's any better, but we'll try it.

Your words made me look up to the skies, yearning.
They made me cry.
I love your writings Autumn -
An awesome poem Storm. Great background as well. My only suggestion - change the font color, very hard to read. Otherwise, a very nice poem. Blessed be, James

Thank you for the comments. It is a sad write, sort of the feeling of someone lost, but more like for good, and the rememberance we have of that person. Be it a lover or just a loved one. Appreciate your time and reading.

Oh wow! That is so beautiful! The artwork and the background just sets it off very nicely. I find it to be beautifully sad, but in a good way. Absolutely stunning work here!
