Her hair was woven through it
As though she were tied to it
A chain made for a queen
Her mother gave it to her
She’d known it would come to her
And known what it would mean
She wished she could remove it
Was sad to be bound to it
But freedom was a dream
She’d think of days gone past
And her wishes for them to last
Washed away as down a stream
The diadem in her hair
Laid a heavy burden there
The duty of a queen

Thanks Azura,
I've read Eragon, but I haven't read Eldest yet so I've 'met' Ayra, but not Islanzadi. Maybe if I wan't so busy with school and work I'd have the time to finish Eldest... I hope I can manage it soon!
Thanks again for the great comment!

this poem reminds me so much of Queen Islanzadi and Princess Ayra from Eldest!!! I loved this poem, the imagery was so beautiful and the words flowed together so nicely. whats funny is Queen Islanzadi wore a diedem in the book too. The last verse was my favorite and I could imagine a young women chained to a thrown, her diadem in her hair wishigng she could be free. good luck in the contest, hope you win! once again your poem was so so so awesome!!!
