I wish that I could sit on the grass and listen
Listen to the words of the songs that they sing
Tales told through music are beautiful things
Sad or sweet with a magical beat
Melodies spin and blend in the air
I wish that I could be there
Even through falling rains and lightning storms
Still there is the music and spirit of the crowd
Listening to favourites and sometimes singing aloud
Umbrellas sprout to keep water out
The ground is damp but none care
I wish that I could be there
Listen to the words of the songs that they sing
Tales told through music are beautiful things
Sad or sweet with a magical beat
Melodies spin and blend in the air
I wish that I could be there
Even through falling rains and lightning storms
Still there is the music and spirit of the crowd
Listening to favourites and sometimes singing aloud
Umbrellas sprout to keep water out
The ground is damp but none care
I wish that I could be there
Author notes
Well, this is for the folk festival option. I absolutely HAD to make an entry. I'm missing a folk festival this very weekend! I've been going as a volunteer every year since I was six, but for various reasons, I'm not able to make it this year. I'm very sad about that and jealous of the rest of my family. (They ARE able to go.)
Sigh.
We can't have everything that we want. It's a shame though.

Thank you, Lady Amalthea. The last time I went, there was an enormous afternoon thunderstorm on one of the days. Because of the lightening, none of the electronic equiptment could be used. The performers at the workshop I was at invited as many of us as could fit to bring our chairs up onto the stage so that we would be able to hear better. I was right up in the front. It was the most amazing thing. There's nothing that I love better than a folk festival. I'm glad to hear from someone else who enjoys them. Thanks for holding your contest at the perfect time.

Great.
Great write.
I wasn't able to go to the festival either, though I have gone almost every other year.
I liked the flow and pattern, they really suit the wording.
Keep writing,
Kochou.
