It’s been another thrilling day
on planet Celestine,
The sun went super-nova, and
the atmosphere turned green.
The twin moons’ orbit teetered, and
the sea was tangerine.
We live in interesting times
on planet Celestine.
It’s been a day of happenings
on my much-loved home world.
Invading space-fleets came and went,
psionic banners furled,
The forests fell to cosmic blight –
they shrivelled up and curled.
There’s always such a lot to see
on my much-loved home world.
There’s been a lot to cope with here
on this revolving rock.
The caste of laureates all got
collective writer’s block.
Our vassal race from Rigel died –
that really was a shock –
It left us much to organise
On this revolving rock.
But safe inside our biosphere,
myself and Celestine
Just watch, with bland insouciance,
our holographic screen.
And though our world falls victim to
the Dalek, Borg, and Treen,
We have our love to keep us warm,
myself and Celestine.

But safe inside our biosphere,
myself and Celestine
Just watch, with bland insouciance,
our holographic screen.
And though our world falls victim to

We have our love to keep us warm,
myself and Celestine.

Thank you. It was the last of my "Celestine" poems, some of which are published here, and two of which are in print. I thought I would round off the Celestine canon with a little bit of humour, and as the name means "Heavenly" I thought a bit of space travel and sci fi would be good.

Your planet sounds so read and full of your good humour! I can tell you smiled when you wrote this!
And it's so very FINE! If AP has a contest for really intelligent and cultured funny poems, this one should go in!

I like the colour scheme. This is great Mairi. I dont want to visit though, I am allergic to Daleks in the worst way.
