I stand with a heavy heart,
at the sacred place,
where I met you,
and a year later kissed joyfully.
But I am here with a heavy heart,
for I know, that you,
my love, have left me,
and are never coming back.
The moon shines down,
and I gaze at the sparkling waters,
of our special place,
called Lover's Waterfall.
Its waters rush down,
over the towering rock.
Down they flow,
into the river.
Overcome with grief,
I jump into the waterfall.
I let its roaring waters,
douse my sorrow.
It drowns my tears,
and seems to wash away,
my emotions of sadness.
It quenches and refreshes me.
I slowly climb out,
shivering all the while,
and I gaze into the moonlight,
and I can see your face.
You, my former lover,
have abandoned me.
I look at Lover's Waterfall one last time,
and I leave, never to come back.

Author notes
This was an idea I came up with just a second ago, when I was thinking of something I saw on this cartoon show called "All Grown Up." Yeah, I know. Funny place from which to get inspiration!
Anyway, there is no such place as Lover's Waterfall to my knowledge.

Evan, I am glad your poem did not have a tragic ending. It was very good and I liked the twist if you will of moving on.
