The circle prayer for needed rain,
burn of the pipe pass before them.
Collective prayers reduce drought's pain,
hands thud of drums beating in blend.
Slow and low almost whispering start,
till the beat progresses in rhythmic rumble.
Chant to the spirit of thunder cloud sparks,
circled prayer dance of spirituality humble.
A round dance forms outside the lodge,
and yet still another circle forms without.
Spinning dance hands raised, heads nod,
in faithful prayer of gratitude's devout.
Medicine Man's song implores thunder spirit,
to bestow blessings of much needed rain.
Bolted lightning strikes,oh can you hear it,
great stallion hooves from clouds refrain.
Offerings of mesa and skins and grains,
layed by Native people's grateful hands.
Pile in great heaps for the spirit's claim,
as moistness spills on dried parched land.

come to the rain dance
Entrancing and visual beauty here in all imagery through the poem, loved that circle upon circle forming as if a spiral of prayer goes up to the clouds; an ancient story with a
magic touch as all relived as one reads and relives in your imagery .. -
Nice Work!
Wow Suseann,
Impressive writing you've done! Could it be from the faith of the people? This is interesting and well done.
