and down through the gullies, and I am afraid.
I am afraid they will come and trample me.
These many gray horses, froth foaming from mouth,
eyes wide in terror, or is it anger, come thundering.
Any moment they will rise over the ridge,
the stamp of their hooves on the stones
will send me their message ahead of them.
The sweat on their flanks will precede them.
I am terrified of the tempering it will take.
I can do no more than raise my arms in greeting.
They bring to that place I always must go;
that place of everything I fear. In their rush,
they will gather me and pull me along
into that adventure I must take.
May my ride with them be safe. May they
not stumble in their quest to take me.
May I honor them so they will not abandon me
on some foreign soil without escape.
Come my brothers. I tend to ride you hard.
Author notes
It is said, by my elders, to dream of wild horses charging towards you, is to expect that you will be called to face some fear. To ride the horse out of the dream and into the darkness, is to go on an adventure that only bravery can see you through.
I have ridden these horses.

Thought I already had, my Sister...repeatedly...
Alright, Carol, I'll think about it when I get a chance...Perhaps something will show itself to me, ehhh??? Thank you, my dear Friend...
-
omg, there is a poem.....write it..write it...
-
Welll, I know you are, my Sister...methinks I'm just an emboldened librarian with moments of terrified courage...
-
Are we not woman of valor, that we will put these things out and allow others to touch those palces of fear? methinks we are! hugs.

Thank you, Sonja. it is so important we do not cross specific boundaries...but some things simply need to be expressed. That is the way with this poem.
I aprpeciate your comments. -

Sighhh...Ooohhh, my Sister...this is an exquisite penning, dear Lady...Brilliant imagery, flow that followed along with the rhythms of the thunder...A glorious piece, Carol...When I was maybe 10 or 11 years old, I used to have terrifying nightmares about a wolf with bloody teeth...It took me awhile to figure that one out...(I almost lost my right eye to a German Shepard at age 4; it took about 2 hours & 3 towns to find a doctor, then 20 stitches to close my cheek)...but when I feared the dream, I would consciously, before sleep, will myself to think of horses...Indeed, you are my Sister of Spirit, Carol...I love riding them hard, as well...but I did not fear their message...either it was a fairly gentle one, or I was not listening closely enough...Beautiful, beautiful writing, Carol...Congratulations, my Friend...

I love the way you have integrated your own personal visions into this image. You have captured an essence of the soul with this. Superb penning.
