Second Skin

A silhouette
upon the wall,  cast by a
candle's glow,
plays sole witness to my
masquerade
of midnight escapades. As the echo of
silence
ricochets off surrounding walls; fantasized thoughts
of what is to come ignite a session of self indulgence. Swaddled
within nature's blanket, caressed by the moon's
delicate beams I lay

upon a feather bed of black satin. On imagination's wings, my mind

takes to flight, delving deep into a realm of rhapsody. It is there I

encounter a gaze of silent domination, from raven eyes, bringing

me to my knees in humble submission. Tis the place upon
my journey that I am graced with the only touch to ever
cause a writhing of my very soul. His
essence is the
very breath I breathe to
survive and his love I
wear like a
second skin. For he is the one;

heart, mind, body and soul, I am
his
always.

This is beautiful. Such love and so much of it that it could be worn as a second skin. I love how this flows so elegantly and the words that were used to describe every moment or feeling. I don't quite understand the shape but I'm sure you could explain it to me. great write and great read. Good luck in the contest.

An absolutely beautiful interpretation of the title you were given. I like that you used shape poetry for this, something I have tried but never been successful at. I very much enjoyed this piece. Excellent job. Good luck to you in the contest.

Hey Bel! This is a very lovely sensual write, and wonderful usage of your title, I understand this met two challenges. You are a multi tasker. xD!! I did want to make one recommendation about the word "Tis", because of the way this piece as a whole was spoken, I think it would flow much more beautifully with "This is" but that may only be personal preference. Nevertheless this is a lovely write thank you so much for sharing your gift with me.

It's truly a pleasure being in this contest with you! I want to say that I wish you all of the best, and that I can't wait to get to know you better over the course of it. (I'm talking of Melanie's contest; not the one that this poem is entered in at the top of the page, mind you. )

I just realized how that sounded; I didn't mean I don't wish you luck in the above one! Ach, I wish you luck in both. Sorry that I am rambling.

Anyways, I thought that this was a really worthy piece. I am glad to see that this competition will be a fun one that will be not only enjoyable, but also it will be challenging. I'm honored to be a competitor alongside you.

I love how you shaped this poem. I don't believe I could ever be able to do such a thing! I think I'd go mad before I could accomplish that. You did it so well.

The whole content of this write was so great, and it really touched my soul. I love it. Best of luck in judging tomorrow!

    Justin

Wow, I am not sure what to say, normally something like this would not strike a cord with me, but I must say your wording, and your content are superb, the conlusion is absolutely stellar, not abrupt but smooth, and I love shape poetry, so the sleek design this piece took on, is fabulous, good luck in the contest and in the Poetic Challenge Round One.
