Quite by chance I came upon
a gentle waterfall of healing calm
much like the tender touch
of mother to her child ~
the voice in her hands
swallowing my sense of self,
the unforgiving pressure of my thoughts...
I have never heard such silence,
beneath sinking ledges of color,
trembling with sorrow,
the raised eyebrows audible in my voice ~
always just bruising through,
ashamed of my bitterness while no light,
no sound comes in from the world
There is a presence in every breath,
weeping soundlessly at beauty ~
life settles into a bearable loneliness,
and then, with mystic reverence,
Night and Hope
descend on a strange day
Our hearts, heat soaked,
thrive on sameness, silver and blue
and fluid as mercury ~
intertwined like fishing nets,
and oh it feels so good
to have someone else plan tomorrow
She looks at me with her soul in her eyes ~
with agelessness
and the clarity of water
moving across the face of time,
leaning back into eternity,
standing apart from my fear ~
and suddenly, my stint on the rock is over
Sliding swiftly across her troubled smile,
her presence sits, gathering weather
in webs of sensation
sealed in separate absorption
and I emerge from the waters
shaking off spray like a hail of diamonds
iii
I disappear beneath your surface
as you heal the hurt and ease the pain
and I watch you sparkle,
flexing and shining
like enchanted perfumed oil,
in an endless river of light
held forever in time,
while the rest of the world moves on...
Healing Waterfall

In many ways this is a most pleasing poem but most is the appeal to my senses i can feel this place, and the metaphor to a mother's touch resonates well too.. there is much to experience and enjoy here... such wonderful and skilled writing...PK

Beautiful, original and profound. You are a very talented and visionary writer. Best of luck to be a winner of this contest. -
When we're winterbound, sometimes the unconditional love of one specific person is all it takes. One person who cares enough. I like the waterfall metaphor used in this context.
Good to be reading you again Criss.

What an amazingly beautiful poem for Wanda, Crisstiena...written with the gentle murmur of water. I can so associate with this poem and echo everything you've written about our dear friend. She has helped me so much too...also right now as my heart lies in pieces too. You have the poetic skills to voice your gratitude and the depths of your compassion and this poem is a heartmoving and elegant display of both your talent, your heart, your soul and Wanda's touch... Poems like these gives me hope too...there are still beautiful, truthful people in this world.

Crissy...I'm still crying, my Friend. I never cry. Perhaps I needed to. I don't know what to say to such an incredibly beautiful poem. You don't know just how badly I needed this right now. Perhaps you sensed it, somehow. This is such a graceful, gentle, loving gesture, dear Lady. Your words have touched a deep ache within my Heart & brought forth a waterfall to heal me. You cannot know how much you've touched my very Soul with this compassionate, exquisitely woven penning. I have always loved your writing, my Friend. But this...sighhh...You're such a lovely woman, Criss, & an incredible human being, as well. I cannot tell you how much your friendship has meant to me. Today, it means the world. Perhaps one day I'll tell you why. Until then, please know how very appreciative I am for your gentleness, your kindness, your tender Mercy...I know you think I helped you through a difficult time, my Friend. I only offered a shoulder & an ear...a few words from a distance...These magnificent words are echoing in the canyons of my Heart...Thank you so much...I love you, too, Criss.

BEAUTIFUL WRITE!!!
This is a beautiful piece of free style poem that says so much about this mysterious waterfall that flows with the healing touch of heaven in its water.
I admire the way the persona has come up with various forms of descriptive imageries to help us have a perfect grasp of the visuals. -
This is so beautiful...and although I don't know the circumstance...I know the poet and I appalud the incredible way you move these lines along...
