summer rains

an ill wind blows
bringing summer rains
a fall of a thousand shining, shooting, screaming stars
to set the night ablaze

like all things
the weather comes in cycles
everything has its season
as this seems the season for rain,
it falls where it will

cycles
like the seasons
like evaporation
driven by heat and cold
and like any good cycle
feeds itself
given the right inputs

rain makes the flowers grow
and when an ill wind
brings summer rains
the bitter fruit that grows
is its own just reward...

Author notes

Me, political? never....

If you didn't realize what this is about, well, then you've done a better job of ignoring the news than I. Let's just say that I'm a firm believer that the two sides on the receiving ends of the two operations that I've woven into the verse... are getting just the harvest they deserve.

Just to warn in advance - unnecessarily hostile comments will be removed and the users leaving them blocked from further input. If you're just simply offended by this, then please, just don't comment.  Thank you.

Heh. That's why I started a while back with explaining what I'm thinking when I scribe something - my wife started wondering about my mental state and so it was just easer... glad you enjoyed it, and glad that the notes helped.

Just as I think that it's not the news' position to tell us what to think, I think that the best political poetry gives you an idea of what the author thinks, without beating one over the head.. Glad you enjoyed it.

This was a very well done piece......creative and leaving one to think on the comparisons you have created. Awsome job here.

Just takes an effort, though I'll admit to failing in that respect - it's like car-crash syndrome, where you find yourself slowing down to look, even when you know you shouldn't. Thanks for reading, and for the applause!

Well, I suppose everything's personal when you feel a connection to things. :-\ As I've cautioned my sister, it's too easy to incorrectly so make it an "us versus them" kind of thing when we're thousands of miles away... Thank you for reading!

This poem has a really nice flow, and it sounds personal, which I like. Also, a very interesting read, and just the right length. Great write.

Tell me about it - and my wife wonders why I would rather watch reruns on cable instead of turning on the news... I almost can't bear to see what horrible thing they're going to report next. *sigh* I suppose that's true in any age, though. Thanks for reading!

Wow, the thought and input you put into this poem is amazing! Great job here! Political poems are hard for me to read sometimes since all you see on the news anymore is this country shooting that country and vise versa...makes me not want to turn the damn TV on anymore. Too many people killing for stupid reasons... ok my rant is over.
Your poem is well done! Good job and thanks for sharing!
