It's possible that I'll find
you in the stew perking
on the stove
layered between bubbling
of beef, sour cream
and mushroom soup;
or gripped frantically
at the end of the cat's tail
holding on to self-preservation.
Often, I watch
you swagger
in with my beloved
at 6PM sharp
and hear the heated
debates with his zipper
on the frailty
of restraint's constitution.
But, normally, it'll be
on a rainy afternoon
while I sit in the oak rocker
creaking in rhythm
to the pat, pat, pat
of plate-glass complaints,
that you'll peek from Picasso
or Monet's brush stokes
reminding me
they too, were inspired
by someone else's
inspiration.

Your poems often speak of morality and the illusion of grandeur. In an instance a poet becomes something less or more at the same interval. I often wonder if the words of some poets are merely lost because they choose for them to be. On another note , Your poems are often like paintings...They go hand in hand with your inspiration I think. A trademark that some people are not lucky to have. Some writers suffer too long trying to appease everyone and forget about themselves. Nice to see that you are not that type of writer.
It is wonderful to be able to stop in again.
I do , however , Have one critical observation and you can feel free to turn the other cheek. The spacing of lines and images gets a tad more random at the end and if you look at the first few parts it has a nice even flow...Grouping of consecutive stanza's , Etc. You might consider implying that more to the lower half. It feels a tad strange compared to the rest of the piece. There are many likeable qualities to both forms of writing....I just think one would better suit the tone.
Hope you are well and we'll have to chat soon ,

Nice job. I hope that you still come here and keep on posting as your poetry really is a wonder to behold. Your style is very reminiscent of that poetry that I love but due to post modernism and people's tastes these days we have somewhat lost (to an extent). The onomatopeia was great to see. Anthony.

I must admit to getting a chuckle out of this one first glance, could be the mood I'm in but that first stanza just got me. Overall this is quite a brilliantly done piece. Bravo!

Oh yes! That last stanza. I'm always inspired by someone else's inspiration. Maybe will I be by yours? I think that's always how it goes. Except for the first first first originals. The first painter. The first writer. The first whatevers. So yeah. Anyway. This piece is honestly way weird. Especially with the food part. But you know, still good! I want beef now. :| And then, "plate-glass complaints" is very very awfully pretty. Love it. Wish I had thought about it earlier. Before you or anyone else anyway.
Then, aside from that... makes me feel like trying to write a contemporary piece. Never been good at it at all. Never really tried. If I did, I'd probably suck. But I always suck because someone who sucks and knows that they suck sucks less that someone who sucks and doesn't know that they suck. Yesh. So good piece!

The depth of the metaphor and open interpritation here is amazing. I think I have found it here. BRAVO!!!

Something about remarking on 6pm sharp is very intriguing to me. It brings a level of personal and adds another layer. I keep rereading to read into it . . .and it's challenging, like it doesn't want to sit still. There's an inspired dissatisfaction if that makes sense . . .and I admire your work.

Brava! Brava! Brava!
Painting a picture for my mind's eye with a few strokes of your pen! Now this is talent! Brava! Jane -
I too think it will be on a rainy day... so many possibilities and layers of interpretation in this poem, Dee. Since you came back to AP again, you are really producing wonderful poetry again - back with a bang! I like this one...inspiration comes from so many things - it is then the job of the poet to feel and see it with her own eyes...like you did here.
