"The only day I could've ended with Happily Ever After"
The last line of the story,
But that fact didn't matter,
All those feelings are now history.
The story was a dream,
You wrote to me,
It was irrelevant how realistic it seemed,
Those happy time were ones we'd never see.
"Holding hands and laughing."
Was somewhere in the middle,
But none of that was really happening,
The pages of this tale are now brown and brittle.
I still have the tear stained notebook,
And today I finally wrote the reply,
I'm sorry that it took me so long to really look,
It's been two years since that goodbye.
You always new I was afraid of falling,
Such a stupid thing to fear,
Cause all I did was end up stalling,
Now I know I love you, and you're not here.

Author notes
This is about a boy that was so sure he was in love with me, but I was afraid to feel that way about anyone. He swore he'd love me forever, even though he moved on because i didn't love him...today I finally wrote a reply to the story he wrote me as a goodbye. I can't really put all that was in there into this poem, so I'm posting both the story and the reply as a poem "a late reply."
